Meet Dr. Chace!
Dr. Paul A. Chace, long-time resident of Farmington, opened a new pet hospital, Advanced Veterinary Care, in the West Woods corner of Farmington on Route 6 in May 2006.
His areas of interest and experience include: emergency care, orthopedics, endoscopy, surgery, and exotic pet medicine and surgery.
Dr. Chace grew up in Vermont, the Adirondacks, and western Massachusetts, before heading to Iowa State University for his undergraduate and professional training. Growing up, the Chace family household was always filled with pets. Dr. Chace helped take care of the family’s cats, dogs and “exotic” pets including: gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs, birds, iguanas, bearded dragons and ferrets. He knew from an early age that his interest in animals and medicine would take him into a career in veterinary medicine.
Dr. Chace graduated from Iowa State University Veterinary College in 1985. His education at Iowa State is marked by his tenure as President of the Veterinary Student Body, and as President of the “Zoo, Exotic and Wildlife Club”, a club he helped launch and run.
Early on in his career, Dr. Chace completed a highly regarded internship at Veterinary Specialists of Connecticut in West Hartford to further develop his medical and surgical skills.
For the past 29 years, Dr. Chace has practiced veterinary care in central Connecticut. He spent most of this time as a Partner at the Old Canal Veterinary Clinic in Plainville, providing advanced medical, surgical, and emergency care for dogs, cats and exotic pets. In 2004, Dr. Chace joined CT Veterinary Clinic (CVC), one of the State’s top 24/7 Emergency Clinics, located in West Hartford. At the same time, Dr. Chace decided to pursue his lifelong goal of starting his own, state-of-the art veterinary clinic. Two quick years later, Advanced Veterinary Care opened in May, 2006
