Dr. Nicole Sylvestre, DVM

Meet Dr. Sylvestre!

Dr. Sylvestre hails from Minnesota, the “Land of 10,000 Lakes,” receiving both her undergraduate and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Minnesota (UMN) – Twin Cities.

So why AVC in Connecticut?  Because she is intrigued by our diverse case load – especially with the learning opportunities offered by our work with exotics – and she is excited to explore  the history and culture of the northeastern United States.

Dedicated to animal care early, Dr.  Sylvestre worked throughout her school years for her hometown veterinary clinic. She has earned distinctive certifications in “Fear Free” training and “Preventative Medicine.” Further, she volunteered in her community as Chairperson for UMN’s Native American “Reservation Veterinary Services.” Such experiences and specialized training will serve to enhance the compassionate and advanced care offered here at AVC!

For fun, Dr. Sylvestre enjoys hiking, biking, cooking and volunteering as a “character actor”:   On Halloween, she transformed into “Dr. Elsa” from Frozen to the delight of all of our clients! She is enjoying living in West Hartford with her wife, Maria and their cat,Thorin.
